Preliminary Visit
Courage to Care tries to arrange for representatives to visit the region where the Exhibition is to take place several months beforehand, particularly in country areas. At these times appointments are organized for Subject Coordinators and other interested teachers to meet with these representatives and learn about the Program in more detail.Teachers’ preview
Representatives from Courage to Care come to the region about 4 -6 weeks prior to the exhibition to explain the Program in detail. We also try to organize a teacher to also attend as they are best able to demonstrate the relevance of the Program to the core curriculum in various subjects and to the fundamentals of the VELS. The teacher is also able to discuss how best to prepare students prior to attending the Exhibition and how to follow up the Program in the classroom.Victorian Essential Learning Standards and this program
The Courage to Care program has been developed in line with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards. See VELS Links
Preparing for a visit to the exhibition
Teachers should give students information about the Holocaust (what it was, when it occurred, who was involved) to prepare them for the exhibition. For information about the Holocaust, the Righteous and related matters, see our Links page.Post visit activities
We suggest that you have a debriefing session with your students within a few days after the visit to discuss what they learnt and make it relevant to their day-to-day lives. Please arrange for each teacher to complete and return the Teacher’s Questionnaire (either at the exhibition or by email) and arrange for students to complete and return the Student’s Questionnaire.
A booklet will be given to students at the Exhibition that contains useful information about the Holocaust and general themes arising from the Program (Click here to view). This includes material that can be helpful to teachers for further discussion after the students’ participation in the Program.
